February 14, 1934 - April 23, 2022 Raymond Gordon Griffith – Took his last breath peacefully in the early morning of April 23rd at Chartwell, Trilogy Long Term Care. He passed away at 88 years old. He is survived by his eight children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, ten siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in 1934 in the island of Grenada West Indies. He Immigrated to London England at the age of 21 for a better future. In his earlier years, he served in the British Army and furthered his education in Structural Engineering. In 1964, he migrated to Canada with his young family. He was part of the Iron Workers Association local 711 and 721. He joined the association in Quebec in 1965 as a welder and is now considered a life time welder with the organization within that local he played a vital part. He was a member for fifty-seven years. Dads passion for his work and dedication to the job was exemplary. His work can be seen in many historical landmarks throughout Canada and the United States. Some of the prominent landmarks are Expo 67, CN Tower, Dominion Bridge, Trans- Canada High Way, Skydome, currently known as the Roger's Centre, with Mometal Seaway Inc., the revolving restaurant at the Harbour Castle Hilton along with many other projects. This is something he was proud of and spoke often about. He worked hard up until retirement 29 years ago but still pursued his passion for building, he was an avid gardener, loved to dance and was extremely dedicated towards his exercise. He loved the Blue Jay’s and for as long as we can remember, his nightly night cap as long as we can remember was a beer mug full of Butterscotch Ice cream. He was a loving man in every sense of the word, he was very generous to all and as a simple man he always went out of his way to help others. He was the life of the party and he truly enjoyed his life up until October 2021 when he suddenly became ill and fought to the end. Daddy you fought a good fight, you will be missed but never forgotten.
