Obituary of Eulene Anita Stewart

Please share a memory of Eulene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
STEWART: Eulene Anita: It is with deep sadness that we announce that Eulene Anita Stewart, also known as mummy, at age 81, passed away on Monday November 14, 2022 at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga Ontario. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Herman Stewart, and her children Dave, Frankie, Sharon, Natasha Andrew. She was born on September 6, 1941 in Four Roads in the parish of St. Phillips, Barbados to Edmond Alonza and Etta Viola Mayers. After losing her father at an early age, Eulene and her siblings were raised by a single mother, strong in the Salvation Army faith. At the age of 19 she became the mother of Dave Mayers after which she ventured to England where she completed her Registered Nursing Certification and met, and then married, Herman in June of 1962. In the early 70’s Eulene and Herman migrated to Canada where they eventually purchased a home for their family in Toronto. Eulene was employed as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 35 years where she fluctuated in various nursing roles, until in the early 80’s she specialized in becoming a fantastic neonatal nurse. Eulene joined the Seventh Day Adventist faith of her Husband and became a baptized member of the West Toronto SDA Church in the early 70’s. Together they raised their children to have God and education as an integral part of their lives. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved to grow, personal and intentional. Like the items she loved to sew, detailed and time consuming. Like the cakes she loved to bake, sweet and full of love. Her influence will forever be remembered in the lives of all who knew her. Eulene had a resilient, generous and loving spirit and she will be severely missed. Her life will always be cherished by her husband, Herman, children, Dave, Frankie, Sharon, Natasha and Andrew, siblings, Phyliis, Sydney and Yvonne, and her 12 Grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws, friends and church members. Eulene was preceded by her parents Edmond and Etta Mayers, Sister Gwendolyn and brother Edwin. We are faithful and believe that we will see our beloved Eulene Stewart, “mummy”, again because Paul has testified in 1 Thessalonians 4, “ And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to live again, we also believe that when Jesus returns God will bring back with him the believers who have died.” Eulene was a staunch believer in Jesus, we have the hope of seeing her at the Resurrection. Until that day Rest in Jesus Eulene, also lovingly known as mummy and Sister Stewart. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday December 1st at the Mississauga SDA Church, 2250 Credit Valley Road, Mississauga, ON L5M 4L9. Viewing will be from 10:00AM -11:00am, followed by service beginning at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road Brampton, Ontario.
