Obituary of Grace Natalie Cargill-Tartaglia

Please share a memory of Grace to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that the family of Grace Natalie Tartaglia must announce that on Thursday, November 22, 2018, Grace lost her fight after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Grace’s spirit left this earth the same way she lived her life:  Surrounded by the love and adoration of family and friends.

Grace’s larger-than-life personality and magnetic presence, constantly inspired all those around her, not only through her love of beauty, but also because her kind heart, love of laughter and generous spirit drew the best out of people of all ages, from all walks of life.  Known internationally through her work with key global beauty/hair brands, Grace felt especially at home in her Toronto salon, Image Makeover and appearing on Citytv’s CityLine; her greatest joy was using her skills and seeing the satisfaction of happy clients, knowing she had a small part in making women smile and feel good about themselves.

Grace always lived her life as a champion, earlier on it was as a track and field star and as Miss Black Ontario; later on, her talents were rewarded with numerous prestigious awards within her profession and through her philanthropic and volunteer activities.  In 2015, she was named the spokesperson for the Princess Margaret Hospital #Nohairselfie campaign for World Cancer Days. This event raised $2 million, including a $740,000 bid for the largest amount ever paid for a single haircut.

Grace’s strong, joyful presence will be missed by many, but most of all by her two sons, Dante and Luciano Tartaglia, her father, Hugh Cargill, her many siblings: Noel Nedrick, Philip Cargill, Andrea Allen, Claudia McIntosh, Earl Cargill (Stacy), Neal Cargill, Kathryn Cargill-Warner (Deverson Warner), Lesley Cargill-Straker (Allistair Straker), Theodore Cargill, Matthew Cargill, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Grace was predeceased by her mother, Helen Allen, in 2017.

A public viewing will be held at Saint John Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium, 737 Dundas St E, Mississauga Ontario, L4Y-2B5 on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018, from 6pm to 9pm.

The funeral service will take place at Saint John Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium, 737 Dundas St E, Mississauga Ontario, L4Y-2B5 on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018.  There will be close casket remembrance from 10am to 11am, preceding the service that begins at 11 am.

The family would like to welcome all who loved Grace to join them at a Celebration of Life reception at Lula Lounge, 1585 Dundas St W, Toronto Ontario, M6K-1T9 from 4pm to 9pm on Wednesday, December 5th 2018.
