GORDON: FITZROY ANTHONY born March 19, 1954. A Godly legend, a visionary, a humanitarian, a family man was promoted to a home of everlasting peace on April 30, 2019. Beloved husband of Marvette Gordon (nee Powell).  Loving father of: Korey, Andrew, Tennyson and Nelson.

With a deep love and passion for radio and broadcasting, it was on CHIN radio, that his “Dr. Love” persona emerged.  For 19 years, Dr. Love brought hope, joy, encouragement, passionate debates and laughter to his listeners through program features that included music, news, sports, current affairs and more.

As a sports journalist and broadcaster, Fitzroy had over 15 years in the industry where worked as a host on The Score and the FAN 590 and as a columnist for the Toronto Sun, the Gleaner and Star, and the Contrast Newspaper. He also reported on all things Cricket. He was a talented cricketer and a fast bowler.

In 2011, he launched Canada’s only Black and Caribbean owned and operated radio station G98.7FM.  He dedicated this radio station to provide a voice for the Black and Caribbean population of Canada and to all Canadians who love and enjoy our culture.  It was through G98.7FM he became affectionately known as 'Mr. G'.

He was predeceased by mother Kethura Stewart (nee Minott) and father Daniel Gordon. He leaves behind 9 brothers and sisters: Daila, Courtney, David, Winston, Maureen, Angella, Patricia, Cislyn, and Pauline.

Family and friends are welcome to view 'Mr. G' and share condolences from 5-9pm on Thursday May 9, 2019 at the Toronto East Seventh-day Adventist Church 4548 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, ON. M1S 1V2. Final viewing and Celebration of Life commences at 9am on Friday May 10, 2019 at the Global Kingdom Ministries 1250 Markham Road, Scarborough, ON, M1H 2Y9 followed by burial at Duffin Meadows Cemetery, Pickering. ON L1V 2P9.
