Our Deepest Sympathies to Lawrie and Rosano. Maria was such a beautiful person, a friend and a sister in Christ ever willing to help at all times. We have no words to describe her. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She is gone but not forgotten. She will always remain in our hearts. Till we meet again.

Eulogy - My soulmate, my wife, my best friend
I met Maria in 1975, where we worked at a Travel Agency. Although we worked in different departments, our lunchroom was a connecting place for colleagues
My eyes were always drawn to this beautiful lady and our friendship blossomed into romance, took us to the same university, and led to our marriage in1985.
We planned to live happily ever after, moved on to Dubai, UAE, where we had opportunities to travel to many places (Bangkok, Hongkong, Singapore, Manila, Rome, Paris, London, Switzerland)
Always social and friendly, Maria was quick to make friends wherever we went. Her sharp sense of direction along with map reading helped us enjoy our vacations without tour guides.
She was my GPS and figured out all the maps and routes.
While GPS was one of her skills, Maria had many other talents; singing, dancing and playing music
She played the guitar and church organ for many weddings, funerals, sang in various choirs, concerts and cultural programs. Before I met Maria, I never thought of singing or playing music, however, she encouraged me and brought out my talents.
She was a good teacher, a great dancer, she taught me the jive and would teach anyone who was struggling with the steps. She was involved in many cultural dances and singing, enjoyed the Mandos and Goan folk dances and songs.
Maria had many artistic abilities; drawing, crafts, stitching. She painstakingly stitched children's dresses, pulling all-nighters to perfect her creation.
Maria had a strong prayer life and faith in God and never missed a day without prayer. She taught me to pray and believe.
In 1988 she gave birth to our son Rosano. Our lives were transformed and Maria was thrilled to be a mom. Rosano was the apple of her eye. He brought her unending joy
Years later, our lives were to change when Maria was diagnosed with Edema and had to be hospitalized in 2015. God brought healing to her body and she was back to living a near-normal life. We resumed our outings, and once again began to live happily ever after again...
But then Maria was hospitalized again in Sep 2019 for heart issues and had to undergo surgery. While the surgery was successful, the recovery was a long journey.
She progressed well over the months, exceeding doctors' expectations and proving the hospital team wrong and amazed everyone.
I visited Maria daily and although tired after work, the highlight of my day was being with her. She also looked forward to my visits and we enjoyed each other's company.
She loved head massages and back rubs, I gave her. I became her personal DJ playing all her favorite songs. We held hands, prayed together trusting God for full healing.
Maria once again, against all odds began recovering well and moved out of the ICU, and was soon to move to rehab
We completed our 35th Wedding Anniversary on 21st April 2020
Our life together was a long journey of good times and bad, sickness and health, joy and laughter, until death made us part on 30th May 2020, when Maria was taken to her eternal rest.
Maria, I miss your smile, encouragement, and, for me - GPS. But I know you are in a place of no more sorrow, no more pain
I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Fr. Elias, Doctor Cohen, and the team and all the doctors and nurses who provided delicate care to Maria.
My gratitude, heartfelt and sincere thanks also, to ALL my family members and for their continuous care, prayers, and support every day of her hospitalization.
Special thanks to my family that was with me especially at hospital meetings with doctors and nurses. Thanks also to Wael who supported me throughout her hospitalization.
I ask Jesus to comfort us all in our sadness and heal our pain

My favourite photo. It reminds me of her warm heart, her love for people and social events, her simple tasteful choice of clothes always appropriate for the occasion, her uniqueness (there is no one like her), her ordinary presence which hides her extraordinary spirit.

Maria was a humble and patient person with a strong determination. She had many talents with singing and dancing topping the list. There is a missing part of our family here, but she's now close to Jesus in heaven. She will be loved and missed.
